Théâtre Saint-Lô > "L'éxperience de l'arbre"

Join us on May 14 at 8:30 pm at the Saint-Lô theater for the show "L'expérience de l'arbre" with the company "L'école parallèle imaginaire".

In 2008, Simon Gauchet met a young Noh actor in Japan, who taught him bits and pieces of his age-old theater for a month. When he has to return to France and wishes to pay his Japanese teacher, the latter refuses and asks him for one thing: to return one day to teach him his Western theater. So, on stage, two actors, French and Japanese, pass on snippets of their theaters to each other: Western theater and Japanese theater. They tell each other stories and reveal their mythologies. They summon characters they have played or those who have been their masters: men as well as trees. In Japan, trees have become guides. In the face of the country?s atomic disasters, there has always been a tree, the ultimate survivor. The Tree Experience invites us to rethink our relationship with the living world: we need to relearn how to listen to the song of the trees.
