L'ancienne usine laitière

Si vous passez par l’Ecalhan, vous remarquerez l’ancien site industriel de l’usine laitière Claudel.
Installée en 1912, elle joue un rôle important dans l’économie laitière de la Manche, avec la coopérative Elle&Vire.
En 1939, elle traite 60 000 litres de lait par jour.
Détruite en 1944 et reconstruite avec des infrastructures modernes, sa production atteint les 500 000 litres de lait par jour dans les années 1970 - 1980.
La société disparaît en 1984 et sert désormais de lieu de dépôt ou de stockage pour des marchandises.
