Promontoire naturel de schiste découpé par les vallées du Torteron,de la Dollée et de la Vire, le rocher permet de contrôler ce point de rencontre stratégique de plusieurs routes et d’un fleuve navigable. Elle
domine le flanc le plus escarpé du rocher. Elle offre de son sommet une large vision des quartiers riverains.
